Penmanship

After hours and hours spent mastering the art of crafting the best words to a simple question I did it!.
"How to write a review?" Mastered. Thanks Google.

"A deep quote about a pen."
"I like this one"
Beneath the rule of men entirely great, the pen is mightier than any sword.- Edward Bulwer- Lytton.

Pen's are great, aren't they. Most people (excluding primary school children and obviously babies) use them to write stuff. The first pen used my man was a feather dipped in ink called a quill.
One of my favourite is by Jacque Prevert called Page d'ecriture. The poem is about the power of childlike imagination in midst of a boring classroom. The readers of the poem explore the subconscious mind of a young boy who images a bird flying around the classroom when looking at a quill pen (le porte-plume) and calls out for it to help him escape the boring class room. What does a reference to a French poem have anything to do with reviewing a pen you may ask?

A pen, a simple object used as an implement for writing possess some much permanent power it's incredible. Our minds craft the words we want to say but a pen makes them permanent as it stains the paper we write on. The mark we leave behind on that piece of paper will never go away (unless you're one of those idiots that but erasable pens when you know you could just buy a pencil). Similar to the young boy in Prevert's poem, I find that a pen aids us explore the endless possibilities this world and other worlds have to offer us through permanency. Our words are impeded on a page forever and could change the world we live in, why not make them worthwhile. Pen's are great, aren't they.

REFLECTION:

I think the understanding of a simple object from a different point of view. Currently I have more of an introspective perspective on the beauty of simple inventions I take for granted. Therefore, the experience is something I would recommend to all to have a closer look for beauty or fault with simple things.
