http://www.hayesfamily.co.za/blog/2014/06/asian-day-at-lunch-bunch/ A couple weeks ago I went out with my friends Ashlin and Karabo for some Kungfu Kitchen to end of the week. We had all been to Kungfu Kitchen before and decided to try eat something new. We ended up buying bow ties and Chinese beer. None of us are really beer drinkers but we all were up for a try. Bow ties is a deep fried doughy syrup coated Chinese dessert. This dessert is similar to the South African koeksister but just a little bit more biscuity in texture. I enjoyed gobbling down my bow tie. The experience was very eye opening.  Unfortunately, I didn't take my own picture of my bow tie dessert as I didn't think about posting it a the time I ate it so thank you Google for making me type in "Long twisty hard Chinese dessert". This experience has made me a lot more open to trying new things as I may end up liking them.

Recently, I have started to take my hoarding to a new found level. I've started started collecting succulents and little pieces of nature to take back to my flat and keep on my window sill. This new found love for collecting pieces of nature is surprisingly adrenaline rushing because I get in so much trouble for picking off leaves from the plants in my complex. This experience has made my love for nature grow and it will benefit by creative process by allowing me to look at nature more closely.

Penmanship

After hours and hours spent mastering the art of crafting the best words to a simple question I did it!. "How to write a review?" Mastered. Thanks Google. "A deep quote about a pen." "I like this one" Beneath the rule of men entirely great, the pen is mightier than any sword.- Edward Bulwer- Lytton. Pen's are great, aren't they. Most people (excluding primary school children and obviously babies) use them to write stuff. The first pen used my man was a feather dipped in ink called a quill. One of my favourite is by Jacque Prevert called Page d'ecriture. The poem is about the power of childlike imagination in midst of a boring classroom. The readers of the poem explore the subconscious mind of a young boy who images a bird flying around the classroom when looking at a quill pen (le porte-plume) and calls out for it to help him escape the boring class room. What does a reference to a French poem have anything to do with reviewing a pen yo...

Exploration of one's subconscious

Over the past week I made a conscious decision to document my journey through my subconscious. I kept documentation of this one my phone and my journal (when I remembered to). Below are a list of the dreams I had throughout the past week. Monday - 13th of March 2017: I was at my grandparent's plot of land. The plot of land keeps both my Uncle Dominic's house as well as my grandparent's house. My Uncle Dominic is the eldest of my mother's sibling but unfortunately passed away when I was very young so I don't have any memory of him.  The dream like element of the dream was that some random stranger ended up buying his house, tore down the house and built a massive mansion. My mother  and stumbled on upon the mansion as the "random stranger" was talking to construction workers about using more of the land to build a swimming pool. My mother was super furious about the house being built that she told the "stranger off" (which is out of my mum...

Déjà vu partie deux

Week of: 5th of March 2017 I am currently a first year student at the Open Window Institute in Centurion. The first year students were encouraged to make a blog expressing our adventurous experiences for a project. This project entails us doing something activities and attending events to encourage new ways of thinking and behaving. This week I had the experience of completely changing my routine for a few days. I am a very regime like person and enjoy been living my life in patterns. I didn't feel scared of changing my routine though, I've always had thoughts of doing it but easily dismiss it.  I started my change of routine by deciding to sleep on my couch rather than my bed. I woke up the next morning with the urge to break my spinal column in half to ease my back pain. School was normal but my day changed when I decided to go to Centurion Mall to collect my fixed iPhone. As soon as I had to pay for my phone I realised that I had left my bank card at home an...
